STD INDEX - Fast dialling code decoding. £16

STD Index is a database of UK and Worldwide dialling codes built in to a very fast database engine of our own design. This gives instantaneous search results by number, name or even a part of the name.

Typing "Ulnes Walton" will, within 1 second tell you that it is in the county of Lancashire and that the dialling code for it is 01772. If you want to visualise it's location then type "01772", you will be given all the local areas covered by the 01772 dialling code including Ulnes Walton and the larger town of Preston, enabling you to pinpoint it on the map.

STD Index will search for anything you type in, entering "Dog" will give you LLangadog and Porthmadog both in Wales. Entering "555" will return 16 places with dialling codes containing "555".

Larger cities are further sub divided in to areas to enable you to return more accurate results. Typing "0181 529 " will return the result that this is in the Chingford area of London.

If you need to know which county a town is in, simply type the town name in to STD Index. Typing "Tring" will return Hertfordshire, "Ayr" will return Strathclyde etc.

STD Index runs under Windows 95, can be run from a shortcut on your desktop and will happily run alongside any other Windows applications you may be running.

Over 6000 Uk and 2000 Worldwide dialling codes are included in STD Index, annual updates are available including the changes on the 22nd April 2000 when the country changes its codes again. On this date Portsmouth and Southampton will share the same dialling code, Every city in Northern Ireland will share the same code, 028. London will lose the 0181 and 0171 codes when the new 020 code comes in to place. Personal Numbers will have codes starting 07, so will Pager Numbers and Mobile Phone numbers. Free, local and national rate numbers will have codes starting 08. Premium rate services will start with 09 while adult services such as sex lines will start with 0909.

STD Index includes a call timer to give you a rough idea of the cost of your call as you speak. This feature alone could save you the price of the software.
